A vegan sneaker is one that contains no animal products. This means using a non-animal material for the upper of the shoe, which for the brand is nylons recycled from marine plastics. At ME.LAND, we are committed to eco-responsibility, total transparency and authenticity towards our consumers. Our vegan women's and men's sneakers, for example, are produced without animal glues, which are usually made from fish-skin glue, but with a 100% natural, vegetable latex glue.

The brand is aware that there are plant-based alternatives such as apple, corn or grape, or the use of synthetic materials, but this means producing something new. And why produce again what already exists?

This approach enables us to produce animal-friendly women's and men's shoes, and above all, sneakers that respect the environment and are ethical in fashion.

A recycled sneaker is one whose components are derived from recycled waste. At ME. LAND, we use marine plastic waste, fished around the Strait of Gibraltar with the support of SEAQUAL INITIATIVE.

SEAQUAL works against plastic pollution of the oceans and overfishing by tracking waste all the way to our sneakers. They compensate fishermen, who are then encouraged to catch this waste at sea, with no financial loss to them.

At ME. LAND, transparency and traceability are inseparable from sustainable and ethical fashion. Every one of our sneakers is made not far from Porto in Portugal, by craftsmen with a high level of expertise. We ensure that every recycled product is sourced within 20/50 kilometers of the factory. To ensure complete traceability, each recycled nylon is numbered by SEAQUAL to track the entire production chain, from waste to recycled basket, and thus comply with the AGEC law!

Whether for women or men, our shoes, made in Europe, are handcrafted and designed to have a reduced carbon impact without compromising the uniqueness and style that are hallmarks of ME.LAND.

1 - Once the plastic waste has been spotted at sea by fishermen, it is sorted and cleaned.

2 - The waste is reduced to shavings or flakes for easier use.

3 - They are then processed into fibers ready to be woven into neoprene nylons, woven, coated... 

Caring for your vegan sneakers starts before you've even worn them. Being made of canvas, your pairs of sneakers need to be waterproofed to prevent stains and keep your feet dry. All you need to clean your shoes is a soft, damp cloth!

Organic cotton laces can be machine-washed.
