What makes a sneaker eco-responsible?
It all starts with a question: why produce something new when it already exists? Our sneakers are designed from waste: plastic recovered from the sea, leather from the food industry, and recycled rubber. The pouches are made of organic cotton, as are the laces on our leather models.
The materials are 100% European (Spain or Portugal), most often sourced within a 50 km radius of the workshop to limit transport.
We also work on the weight of each sole: a lighter sneaker emits less CO2 during transport and is more comfortable to wear.
Vegan or leather: our eco-responsible sneakers for men and women
All our models are unisex, offered in whole sizes from 35 to 46, depending on stock.
Evan and Vivace, the vegan and recycled sneakers
Their canvas is made from nylon recycled from ocean plastics. They are 100% recycled, including soles and laces. Lightweight and low-cut, they pair well with jeans, chinos, shorts, or a skirt. See all our vegan sneakers.
Meaker and Heaker, the leather sneakers
Their leather comes from the food industry. The mix of materials (calfskin, suede, matte and shiny patent, or metallic calfskin) and colors make them distinctive sneakers that can be worn with casual or dressy outfits. See all our leather sneakers.
Portuguese manufacturing, monitored and controlled
Our sneakers could have been made in France. We chose Portugal, in Felgueiras near Porto, a region known for its expertise and quality, which also allows us to keep prices affordable.
We work with suppliers who guarantee fair working conditions and decent wages for their artisans. Regular audits are conducted by experts to check that their rights are respected.
How to care for eco-responsible sneakers?
- Waterproof the sneakers before wearing them, then at least once a month.
- Leather: a soft, damp cloth is enough. If needed, a natural cream revives its color.
- Waterproofed nylon and patent leather: a damp cloth is enough.
- Suede: use a suede eraser.
- Do not wear the same pair every day: letting it rest every other day limits wear and tear.
- Untie the laces before putting on or taking off the sneakers: they will last longer.

Are ME.LAND sneakers eco-certified?
Yes, depending on their material. Evan and Vivace are PETA Vegan Approved, SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, and OEKO-TEX certified. Our vegan shoes are PETA Vegan Approved. The leather for Meaker and Heaker, sourced from the food industry, is GOLD RATED certified.
Where are ME.LAND sneakers made?
In an artisanal workshop located in Felgueiras, near Porto, Portugal. Each pair is designed in Paris and handcrafted in small batches.
How is marine plastic recovered?
Waste is recovered from sea with SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, which encourages fishermen to collect this plastic by providing them with financial compensation.
