ME.LAND x JULIE GASNIER plays with differences and singularity
JuliE GAsnieR is an independent multidisciplinary artist whose research focuses on poetic bodily languages.
In her work, the emphasis is on vibration, on the instability of sensitive impressions. Forms challenge us; femininity and freedom assert themselves at the boundary of abstraction, in the necessity of disfiguring our representations.
Author, composer, and performer, JuliE GAsnieR was for years the emotional force behind remarkable pop music groups such as LALAfactory, SuperBravo, and more recently, under her own name JuliE GAsnieR.
Primary Portraits
We loved her "Primary Portraits" drawing series, a playful and wild hymn to difference and singularity, which immediately resonated with the ME.LAND philosophy. That's why we proposed collaborations to JuliE GAsnieR — she first imagined a variation titled "Primary Kisses" for the ME.LAND collaboration.
For a second collaboration, after the various "Primary Kisses" variations featuring a kissing couple, "OhOhO my choir" offers a graphic motif adjusted to the shoe's design. Three stylized and minimalist faces appear, seeming to sing as one in their colorful beards — a playful balance between naive figures and Bauhaus-inspired geometric elegance. A unique model in primary colors ringed with black, a limited series, signed and made to order.
Each pair is made to order and will be a unique model, a true work of art. JuliE GAsnieR uses artisanal tattoo inks to hand-paint each ME.LAND shoe — a contemporary way to reinvent the patine technique, finalized by artisanal glazing for exceptional durability over time.
